Now that's what we call cross country!
If it’s Monday it must be St Moritz, Thursday St Anton…A
fantasy? Not necessarily, as tour operator Baobab Expeditions is offering
tailor-made trips that cross country boundaries. FT nipped out of the
office for a few days last season with some pals to sample one of its
suggested itineraries.
A swanky 4x4 plus driver picked us up from Zurich
airport, and whisked us over the Julierpass to the glitz and glamour
of St Moritz in a couple of hours. And into the welcoming embrace of
the centrally located four-star Schweizerhof hotel.
Our transport was ready and waiting the following day
to take us to the slopes after breakfast, and there to pick us up at
the end of the day to take us to our next luxury port of call, one of
St Moritz’s most exclusive hotels, the five star Badrutts Palace.
Baobab creates itineraries to suit clients’ requirements and our
group wanted one real splash-out night.
After another adrenalin-fuelled day on the slopes, we
were transported across the Italian border to Bormio, a historic spa
town about an hour and a half away. Pasta fuelled and cleaned out [from
the spa, geddit], our final stop was St Anton in Austria, a two and a
half hour drive from Bormio, for a final round of luxury at Raffl’s
St Antoner Hof hotel.
Four days in three resorts in three countries, travelling
in supreme comfort. It gets the FT seal of approval. Yes sireeee.
