Why choose Baobab?
Baobab's Safari Expeditions accommodate those looking for a greater sense of independence whilst offering all the benefits of group travel. Our safaris are specifically geared towards the needs of modern day exploration.

Our safari consultants will ensure that your African safari expedition is undoubtedly one of the most unique and unforgettable experiences of your life. Every one of our safari expeditions is designed so as to incorporate the four key elements of relaxation, discovery, luxury and adventure.

Baobab's safaris do not face country border restrictions and we only operate in politically safe countries. Our guides will escort you across
Botswana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and South Africa.

24-hour support from
Baobab backup vehicles, on-site guides and mechanics, as well as the latest communication equipment, means you can explore otherwise hard to reach World Heritage sites, secluded beach retreats and numerous game parks.

Our partnership with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, Save the Rhino and The AfriCat Foundation enables us to visit off-the-tourist track community and conservation projects. These visits are specifically designed so as to give you a greater insight into how these charities operate.

Our activities are designed so as to recapture the essence and adventure of a by-gone era. Follow in the footsteps of some of the continent's most legendary explorers; namely Livingstone, Stanley, Baines, Andersson or Da Gama. You can relive some of their epic feats of African exploration with the perfect balance of luxury and wilderness.

Choose from an exciting selection of adventure activities; including quad biking across the Namibian desert, exploring Africa's game parks on horseback or canoeing along Lake Malawi's beautiful shores.

At Baobab we are passionate about Africa. We have a very strict company policy to ensure we always adhere to encouraging the development and promotion of tourism in an environmentally sustainable manner.

What is the level of comfort like?
We use a combination of luxury safari lodges and wilderness camps for accommodation purposes.

Our luxury safari lodges and wilderness camps are renowned for their unsurpassable quality and excellence. They will undoubtedly provide you with the ultimate African experience

The emphasis is on exclusive locations, stunning wildlife and a first-class guide who provides you with the freedom to go wherever you could possibly fancy.

Will the safari expedition be safe?
Your safety is of paramount importance. You will be accompanied by an expert Baobab guide throughout the duration of your safari expedition.

Baobab's support service guarantees 24-hour mechanical support, coupled with the additional know-how and security of our highly trained staff.

Standard cell phones with international roaming facilities will keep you in constant communication with the rest of the world.

How many hours will we be driving per day and do we drive at night?
We aim to leave by 8am each morning. The early morning is the best time to view wildlife in Africa and the African climate warrants early morning departures.

Our guides always aim to avoid travelling in peak heat.  We intend to arrive at your final destination early afternoon, giving you plenty of time to relax and enjoy your dinner at sunset.

What level of qualifications and experience do the Baobab guides offer?
Baobab guides are highly experienced in guiding groups of tourists across Southern and Eastern Africa and they all possess specialist knowledge of all the countries listed in our safari expedition itineraries.

The most important element in any Safari is your driver/guide, since he accompanies you during the entire trip. As you can imagine, this aspect can make or break a good Safari. All Baobab guides are fully qualified to provide you with a specialist insight into the African wildlife, the local culture, as well as their many traditions. They love their country, have been raised in it and know what is has to offer.

What health precautions do I need to take?
Please consult your doctor for the latest health and anti-malarial precautions. It is entirely your responsibility to ensure that you have taken all of the necessary medical precautions required for our safari expeditions. Malaria tablets, hepatitis, cholera, typhoid and tetanus are all recommended.  Vaccinations such as yellow fever are compulsory.

Do I need to arrange any Visas for the countries listed on my safari expedition?
Please ensure that all your travelling documents are in order before arrival.  Baobab cannot be held liable for any client being refused entry into a country for any reason whatsoever. We will gladly advise you with regard to documentation required for your safari expeditions.

See our Health, Visas and Insurance page for additional information.

What should I expect at each country's border crossing?
Your guide will take care of all of the administrative procedures when it comes to crossing international borders. Please ensure that your passport is valid for a minimum of six months, and that you have all of the required visas so as to facilitate this process. Border crossing requirements are not uniform in Africa and therefore our guides will advise you of the correct procedure on the days where a border crossing takes place.

What specific travel insurance will I require for my safari expedition?

Please ensure you have a valid travel insurance policy which covers you for all the activities listed in our safari expeditions. Please ensure that your policy also covers you for emergency medical repatriation.

See our Health, Visas and Insurance page and Terms & Conditions for additional information.

Do I need special skills and/or fitness?
Other than enjoying spending time in the outdoors, our safari expeditions are suitable for all reasonably fit people. You can pick and mix whichever activities are realistically achievable for you.

The upper age limit for our safari expeditions is 70 years, however clients between the age of 70 and 75 years may be accepted provided they produce a medical certificate stating that they are fit enough to travel.

If you are disabled please contact us to find out if the particular safari expedition is suitable for you. We will try our utmost to fulfil your requirements.

What to I need to bring with me?
We recommend that you buy especially designed light-weight, quick drying clothes. These are available from a number of specialist high-street travel stores. It's easier to wash your clothes on a daily basis, rather than carrying excessive amounts of clothing in your rucksack whilst travelling throughout Africa.

Is a Baobab safari expedition for me?
We will provide you with your passport to Africa!

We will do our utmost to create the most exciting, enjoyable and educational safari possible in Africa.

So why not take a break from the rat-race, reconnect with nature and try looking at life from a different angle for a while? It's guaranteed to put a great big smile on your face!
