Baobab's
partnership with The
Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund (DFGFI), Save
the Rhino (SRI), and The
AfriCat
Foundation (AfriCat) enables us to offer
inspirational travel itineraries supportful
of wildlife conservation and local community
enterprises.
We aim to provide unique
insight into local cultures and wildlife, whereby
we create a platform from which our guests
can learn about the challenges involved with
conservation. Facilitating the commercial exploitation
of tourism to an optimal advantage for these
groups is a key aspect of Baobab’s ethos.
DFGFI and its support of critically endangered
mountain gorillas and their environment is an integral part of the Baobab philosophy.
Clients visiting Rwanda will have the great opportunity to view gorillas in the
wild and visit Fossey’s historical stomping grounds. A portion of every
Baobab booking goes towards this worthwhile organisation and all Baobab clients
become members free of charge.
We have incorporated SRI conservation projects into
our expeditions throughout Eastern Africa. Witnessing
how Save the Rhino operates on a daily basis and meeting the project staff face
to face is a unique benefit of these excursions. We donate a fixed fee per person,
per day for every Baobab visit we make. Baobab clients visiting SRI projects
will become members free of charge.
AfriCat provides
a haven for Namibia’s large carnivores,
especially cheetah and leopard. Here you will
view cats in close proximity and interact with
conservationists and on-site staff to learn
more about their efforts with these beautiful
creatures. We donate a fixed fee per
person for every Baobab visit we make. Baobab
clients visiting the AfriCat project will
become members free of charge.
