Benguerra
Lodge
-
Island Lodge
with stilted chalets
-
Overlooking Benguerra Bay
-
Wonderful snorkelling & watersports
- Excellent birdwatching
Benguerra Lodge is set amidst indigenous milkwood
trees overlooking Benguerra Bay. The Lodge consists
of an open-fronted thatch-and-reed main building
embracing the lounge, bar and dining room area
flanked by secluded chalets. Built on stilts,
each chalet offers en-suite facilities and a
private balcony.
Activities include excellent snorkelling and
scuba diving on the breathtaking reefs, viewing
the vast array of colourful fish and extraordinary-shaped
coral. A highlight is to see dugongs or green
turtles, while goldies, blue-banded snappers,
rubberlips, potato and brindle bass, manta and
eagle rays, kingfish and frogfish, to name a
few, are regularly encountered.
You can try windsurfing and sailing by hobiecat
or enjoy a sunset sail on a dhow. The mangrove
forest, beaches and freshwater lakes harbour
about 80 to 115 species depending on the season.
A highlight is the flocks of flamingos that
breed in the lakes. Anglers can experience the
thrill of deep-sea fishing, fighting marlin
or game fish, in the fully-equipped boats with
an experienced skipper. Saltwater fly fishermen
can meander around the flats in a specially
constructed boat, casting for rare bonefish.

Indigo
Bay
Surrounded by azure waters
and basking in the tropical sun, Indigo Bay
is an idyllic and totally unspoiled island paradise.
Located on the southwest shore of Bazaruto Island
off the mainland of Mozambique, this luxurious
resort is a natural gateway to the enchanted
archipelago. Each of the luxury chalets features
air-conditioning, mosquito nets and en-suite
bathrooms.
The Bazaruto Archipelago is a small group of
islands and the white beaches and protected
reefs surrounding the islands support dolphin,
dugong, game fish and giant lobster.
The whole area between the mainland and the
150-fathom mark is now protected as a world-class
conservation area. The shallow, crystal-clear
waters, with dazzling soft corals, starfish,
anemones, seahorses and a bewildering range
of beautiful fish, extend to dive sites and
many other water activities may be enjoyed.
Fauna and flora on the island abounds; flamingos
on tidal flats, endemic butterflies, hundreds
of bird species in the wetlands, savannah grasslands
and thickets. The resort offers a diverse range
of aquatic activities. |

Pemba
Beach Lodge
Pemba Beach Lodge is situated
near the sleepy town of Pemba in the northern
Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, approximately
240 kilometres from the border of Tanzania.
The Lodge lies between Pemba Bay and the lovely
Wimbe beach. Pemba, formerly known as Porto
Amelia, is an historic town steeped in colonial
and trading history and a gem to explore. There
are local and traditional shops, as well as
an authentic local market or Souk, where arts,
crafts and traditional silverware can be bought.
The Lodge has a good range of accommodation
for guests to choose from. All rooms are sea-facing
with individual balconies or terraces. The bedrooms
have en-suite bathrooms with bath and shower,
air-conditioning, mini bar, satellite TV, direct
dial telephone, coffee/tea-making facilities,
electronic safe, international plug sockets
and hair dryer. Outside the rooms, manicured
lawns stretch down to the warm waters of the
Indian Ocean. The infinity edge swimming pool
presents an excellent opportunity to enjoy sundowner
cocktails. |

Marlin
Lodge
Marlin Lodge’s elegant
wooden structures are beautifully integrated
into the environment. The Lodge comprises secluded
luxurious chalets which snake along a dune overlooking
a white beach. The centrepiece of the Lodge
is a living-dining area crafted from ironwood
and red mahogany.
The pool is set in a glade of coconut and Ilala
palms, perfect for a day of lazing and sipping
tropical cocktails. Raised boardwalks limit
damage to the sensitive dune environment and
lead to the chalets. From this vantage you can
watch the antics of red squirrels and a host
of birds, such as brown-headed parrots, green
pigeons and Burchell's coucals. The wood-reed-and-thatch
chalets with en-suite bathrooms are a blend
of African elegance and tropical island beauty.
Each chalet has a space of beach to itself with
a private walkway.
Drift into slumber listening to the lap of waves
and the breath of winds in the palms. The Lodge
has a fully-equipped dive and tackle shop and
a well-stocked curio shop. |
